School Values: Promotes Belief Creates Success

A VERY WARM WELCOME TO PLATT BRIDGE COMMUNITY SCHOOL & NURSERY

Welcome to Platt Bridge Community School

On behalf of the whole school community, I extend you a warm welcome to Platt Bridge Community School and Nursery.

At Platt Bridge Community School, we are committed to providing a broad, well-balanced and relevant education that is enriched with visits, visitors and extended services. Our school is a modern, inclusive, non-denominational community school for children aged 2-11 years old.

We are committed to ensuring that every child entrusted to our care achieves their full potential in a safe and nurturing  environment.  At school, we strive to create an inspiring environment which enables everyone – children, staff and families - to flourish and achieve their aspirations. This is encapsulated in our school motto of Promotes Belief Creates Success’.

At Platt Bridge Community School, our overarching aim is for every child to be socially, emotionally and academically prepared for their next stage in education and life. We expect the highest standards from our children in all aspects of school-life including attendance, attitude, behaviour and achievement.

Education is a partnership between home and school - children learn best when home and school work together effectively and honestly. When your child starts school, our job begins and yours continues. A successful partnership between school and parents/carers is key in ensuring that your child enjoys their time at school, and they achieve their full academic and social potential. Parent/carer input is very much valued and sought after at school: we actively encourage strong links with our families and the community. Platt Bridge Community School was the first full service extended school within the Wigan authority, and as its name suggests, we strive to be at the heart of the community.

We hope you find the information on our website useful. Please do not hesitate to contact our friendly, school team if you require any further information.

Mr Stephen Wallace

Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) 2024-25

The Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) programme is a flexible, whole-school approach to improving children’s mental health and wellbeing. We chose to get involved with EFS because as a school we ensure our curriculum and experiences help to support our children and their emotional wellbeing.

We are proud to share that on 3rd August 2022 we achieved our Bronze EFS Accreditation, one of the first schools in Wigan to do so. This involved producing a portfolio of evidence which was assessed by a panel, sharing how we strive to ensure that our school is an emotionally friendly place to learn and work. The EFS Accreditation Panel said our strengths were the environment the children work in, the support we offer our children and the use of the EFS audit to guide us in our areas of strength.

We are now working to achieve our Silver EFS Accreditation, which involves providing further portfolio evidence, a school visit, and a focus group.
