School Values: Promotes Belief Creates Success

SCHOOL AdmissionS

By law, parents must arrange for their child to start school at the beginning of the term on their 5th birthday, unless they have made other suitable arrangements, which have been approved by the Local Authority.

In Wigan, there is one admission date for all children at age 4 years plus, with a closing date for accepting a place.

Platt Bridge Community School has provision for 60 Reception age pupils in two classes.  Admission to our Reception classes is administred by Wigan Council.  Our Admissions Policy provides further informatin regarding the admissions process and details of the selection criteria.

For more information regarding admissions arrangements and our full policy, please visit the Local Authority admissions website here.

Our admission arrangements within the trust comply with the DfE’s ‘School Admissions Code’ and ‘School Admission Appeals Code’.

Children going attending our school nursery classes

We wish to point out that if your child attends our Nursery class, this does not provide an automatic right to a place in a Reception class in school.  You must follow the school admission application process to apply for a Reception class place.

If your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2025.

The online primary school application service opened on 30th September 2024 on the Wigan Council's website - visit the online School Admission Portal

Parents and Carers are required to complete their application before the closing date to ensure the best chance to secure their child attends their preferred school.

The closing date for applications was 15th January 2025.

NATIONAL OFFER DAY - Parents will be informed of the offered place on 16th April 2025.

Following the national notification of school places, we will contact parents with more information about starting at our school and an invitation into school prior to starting in September 2025 to participate in three sessions with the class teacher as part of our INSPIRE programme.
