We understand that some individuals maybe concerned about the Omicron variant. As a school we continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation carefully. Please see update below.

I do hope this message finds you and your family well and enjoying your weekend.
As a school we continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation carefully.
Last week, several positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in our setting and relevant warn and inform letters were issued.
Any individual(s) identified as a close contact of a confirmed is recommended to take a PCR test. It is also recommended by Wigan Council Health Protection teams that individuals have a further PCR 4 or 5 days after the first PCR.
If you or your child have any of these coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, even if mild, you must organise a PCR test as soon as possible:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed

In addition to PCR testing, the Wigan Director of Public Health encourages that contacts of a positive case, undertake daily lateral flow tests, in addition to the PCR test that is recommended in national guidance.
We understand that some individuals maybe concerned about the Omicron variant. All contacts of someone found to be infected with the Omicron variant will be advised to self-isolate for 10 days. As a school we will continue to act on the advice of Wigan Health Protection teams and the Department for Education should the situation regarding the Omicron variant develop.
Facemasks will be become compulsory in shops and on public transport from Tuesday, as a school we will be introducing measures that include adults wear a face covering when visiting or entering the school premises. This will include adults dropping off / collecting children from school from Monday 29th Nov 2021.
In school, we will in addition be tightening the mobility of adults intermixing between groups.
Hopefully, these extra measures will help reduce the virus spreading in our school community and prevent any child being sent home from school.
