3 May 2019 (by admin)

Congratulations and thank you to all our staff who truly support the work of our school and who all want the best for young people. This prestigious award supports the excellent education our pupils and community receive and deserve.

On Thursday 25th April 2019; Platt Bridge Community School was independently assessed for a Wellbeing Award. We are delighted to inform you that the school achieved the prestigious wellbeing award.

The assessment involved an independent assessor meeting with pupils, staff, governors and parents from within our community to evaluate our commitment to the emotional wellbeing and mental health of our pupils, staff and parents.

The assessor commented that our commitment to the emotional wellbeing and mental health of pupils, staff and parents is at the heart of our organisation. The assessor also mentioned that ‘’we listen to our staff and staff support every pupil as an individual to remove any barriers to learning’’ the assessor also stated that ‘‘pupils are very well looked after and staff feel truly valued by the organisation through the various initiatives provided.’’

Ann Howard, Head of School, and Martin Haskayne, Deputy Headteacher jointly said: “We are delighted that are have receive this award. It’s an incredible achievement for the school and recognises that the wellbeing of our pupils is at the heart of our school community.’’ They also said that Charlotte Hindley had been pivotal in leading us to this award.

‘’We have strong and supportive relationships that support emotional wellbeing and we provide a safe and inclusive environment for our pupils to engage in learning. We want to enable our children to succeed academically and emotionally for the challenges they face not only in the classroom, but in the future.”

Working towards the award focused us to review key areas with which we can provide the school community with greater clarity and support around emotional health and wellbeing.

Sue Darbyshire, Chief Executive, said: “It’s great to see the school achieve the award and offer such a great environment for pupils and staff.’’

“We’re focused on supporting young people and staff with their mental health by making wellbeing support available in a school setting. The development of effective support strategies for mental health and wellbeing and a culture of mutual respect show that Platt Bridge is a school to be proud of’’
