Michael Farrell – Parent governor and chair of the local academy board. |
Teaching assistant at a School in Billinge. Working with children in a specialised provision, helping them to overcome any barriers to their learning so they can succeed in their education. |
I personally wanted to become a governor at our school to make a difference to the children of the local community within Platt Bridge and the surrounding area. I have real passion for working with children and young people, ensuring that they have the best outcomes possible from being in school. I really enjoy working within in a team of people that share the same values and beliefs in what’s best for the children and the whole school community. I also have children at the school myself and as parent governor I like to give the parents of the school community a real voice. |
I am a keen rugby league fan who follows the Wigan Warriors. I also have been a rugby league coach for the past nine years at Chorley Panthers. Currently I am also mad enough to still be playing rugby league for the Spring View rugby club just down the road also! When not doing all things rugby I like to spend time with my family friends doing various activities. I have a keen interest in local history and like to keep myself active by going to the local gym. |
When on holiday in Kenya a few years ago, I danced with a local Maasai tribe in their village! For charity I have rowed twenty-six miles in a day on lake Windermere! |

Sue Darbyshire is CEO at Community First Academy Trust. Sue is also a National Leader of Education and supports school improvement nationwide. She started teaching in 1992 and has been in leadership positions for over twenty years, seventeen of these have been as Headteacher or Executive Headteacher. |
